Leeds United deliver new injury blows with quintet facing time on the sidelines

Leeds United have released an injury update on five players ahead of Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference.

Rodrigo has been added to the group of players we were expecting to hear issues with from Marcelo Bielsa in this afternoon’s press conference.

Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper were expected to be out for the next few games after limping from the field on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the national press has suggested Patrick Bamford suffered a new hamstring issue in the same game. United have now confirmed that.

While Robin Koch has recovered from his long-standing pelvic complaint, the Whites report he has been ill for 10 days ahead of a return to training this weekend.

Apart from Koch, there are no timeframes put on the recovery periods for the players concerned.

The statement reads: “Rodrigo has been suffering from bilateral heel pain for some time.

“The player and medical staff have deemed it necessary to reduce his activity for the time being, in order to aid his long-term recovery.

“Robin Koch has overcome his pelvic injury, but has been ill for the last 10 days. He will resume normal training again this weekend.

Patrick Bamford suffered a hamstring injury during last Sunday's Premier League game against Brentford at Elland Road. The evolution of the injury is subject to daily assessment.

“Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper also both suffered hamstring injuries in Sunday’s game.

“Both players have undergone treatment for their injuries and the club's medical staff will structure the next steps in their recovery.”

Bielsa is expected to put more flesh on the bones this afternoon.
