Leeds United defender and former academy prospect seals permanent switch away from Elland Road

Former Leeds United academy prospect Tyler Denton has joined League Two side Stevenage on a permanent deal.

Denton made just three appearances for the Whites - two in the FA Cup, and one in the League Cup against Luton Town, where Denton scored his only goal for the club.

The defender spent last season on loan at Peterborough United, and spent much of the 2017/18 season with former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown at Port Vale in League Two.

His departure adds to a growing list from the defensive department, following Pontus Jansson's high-profile move to Brentford and Aapo Halme's switch to Barnsley.

Denton had little chance of breaking into Marcelo Bielsa's plans for another promotion push, and he will now link-up with Dino Maamria at Stevenage for his first permanent move, having started his career at Leeds United's academy in 2003.

The Whites did bolster their defence earlier in the summer with the capture of Ben White from Brighton on a season-long loan.
