Leeds United could lose out on transfer targets to Manchester City and Arsenal, Aston Villa to sign goalkeeper - Championship rumours

James is a wanted man

Leeds United have been handed a significant blow in the transfer market as the Mail reports Manchester City have joined the hunt for Swansea City’s 21-year-old winger Daniel James.

The Wales international saw a Deadline Day move to Elland Road collapse at the eleventh-hour of the January transfer window and it seems that Marcelo Bielsa’s side may have missed their opportunity to land his services.

Blow for Bielsa

Leeds may have also missed out on another target, as TeamTalk reports Arsenal have made the first move to sign Brazilian starlet Gabriel Martinelli after lodging a bid of around £5m for the 17-year-old who is attracting heavy interest.

However, more positive news for the Peacocks is reported by Calcio Mercato, who state that Leeds are fighting Newcastle United for the services of Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez - a 23-year-old midfielder who is also courted by Serie A pair Cagliari and Roma.

Orient ace impresses Norwich

Norwich City have joined Premier League duo Wolves and Brighton in the hunt for Leyton Orient ace Dan Happe, a 20-year-old defender who has caught the eye since the turn of the year, the Sun reports .

Happe has impressed since forcing his way into the first-team, helping the O’s in their bid to return to the Football League for the first time since their relegation from League Two in 2017 and making 13 appearances.

Yacob's Ollympic ambition

Nottingham Forest could lose the services of experienced midfielder Claudio Yacob as Greek outfit Olympiacos are eyeing a move for the Argentine, Nottinghamshire Live reports , amidst his exile from the team.

Yacob last featured for Martin O’Neill’s side in the draw against West Brom in early February but the Forest boss is adamant he can still play a part in his side’s push in the final weeks of the season.

With stars at Aston Villa, Bristol City and Derby County, could Chelsea's second-string win the Championship?

Villa playing for keeps

Elsewhere, Portuguese outlet Record states that Aston Villa are plotting a move to sign CD Aves goalkeeper Quentin Beunardeau after his impressive performances for the club despite their fight to avoid relegation from the Primeira Liga.

The 25-year-old has kept five clean sheets in 19 games, which has also caught the attention of Sheffield Wednesday as well as French duo Montpellier and OGC Nice.

Barton scouting Stoke

Finally, Stoke City youngster Harry Souttar is already courting the attention of Fleetwood Town ahead of next season as StokeOnTrent Live report the League One side want to land his services on loan.

The 20-year-old has impressed with Joey Barton’s side this season but it remains to be seen what the Potters have planned for him next term.
