Leeds United are said to have “cooled their interest” in reported Nottingham Forest target Massimo Luongo.
The two Championship clubs have been linked with the QPR midfielder this summer – though speculation about the Reds’ interest came while Martin O’Neill was still in charge.
Luongo’s future at Loftus Road looks to be in doubt, as he was left out of former Forest boss Mark Warburton’s squad for a pre-season trip to Austria.
And now website London Football News say the 26-year-old is no longer a target for Leeds, claiming head coach Marcelo Bielsa has decided to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
Luongo has a year left to run on his contract with Rangers and it is said the chances of a new deal being agreed are slim.
Warburton admitted over the weekend that the Australian could end up moving on before the transfer window closes.
Explaining his decision not to include the player in his team’s training camp, he told the club website: “Massimo has been a loyal servant of the club for the last four years, and his passion and commitment for QPR has always been there for everyone to see out on the pitch.
“Massimo’s future could now lie away from QPR and therefore it is important that we prepare for that potential eventuality.”
Luongo has reportedly been on the Reds’ radar before, when Warburton was in charge at the City Ground.
