Leeds United have completed the signing of Valencia striker Rodrigo for a club-record transfer fee.
The Spain international, who was closely linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona as recently as January, has joined the Whites for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m.
The 29-year-old, who netted seven goals in 34 outings for Valencia last season, as well as racking up 11 assists, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal which will see him stay at Elland Road until 2024.
Rodrigo, who has spent time in England before, spending the 2010/11 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, becomes the Whites' seventh signing of a busy summer, following Illan Meslier, Dani van den Heuvel, Cody Drameh, Charlie Allen, Jack Harrison and Joe Gelhardt in sealing a move to West Yorkshire.
The Spain star's arrival at Elland Road means he has become the club's most expensive addition in their 101-year history, with Leeds paying around £12m more than they did to sign Rio Ferdinand from West Ham United way back in 2000.
Rodrigo began his youth career at Celta Vigo before moving to Real Madrid. A €6million move to Benfica followed in 2010 where he won the domestic treble in 2014 and was twice a runner-up in the Europa League.
Valencia signed the forward for €30million in 2015 following a loan spell and he would net 59 goals in 220 appearances for Los Che, winning the 2018-19 Copa del Rey during his time at the Spanish side.
He has also established himself as a Spanish regular, earning 22 caps since 2014 and scoring eight goals.
The Spaniard's arrival is not only a massive statement of intent set by Leeds, but it will also be a welcome boost to head coach Marcelo Bielsa knowing that he has now bolstered his forward-line ahead of the Premier League season getting underway at Anfield in a little over two weeks time.
