Leeds United confirm senior striker's loan exit with telling Victor Orta message

Championship football awaits Tyler Roberts after Leeds United agreed to loan the Wales international to Queens Park Rangers. The 23-year-old will spend the season at Loftus Road, where promotion would give QPR the option of buying Roberts permanently.

Roberts started seven Premier League matches last season and departs Elland Road for the year with nine goals from 108 appearances since he arrived in 2018. QPR, now managed by Steven Gerrard’s former assistant Michael Beale, finished 11th last season.

United’s director of football, Victor Orta, said: “We all want to wish Tyler Roberts well at Queens Park Rangers for next season. He has been a big part of the squad here as a player and a person.

“We hope he can gain from a new experience out on loan and I think by playing lots of games he will only improve further, so we are looking forward to watching his progress.”

Roberts is sure to have aspirations of playing for Wales at the forthcoming World Cup, but with bodies returning from injury and money being spent on new faces, opportunities may have been at a premium for him.
