Leeds United confirm Oliver Casey will move to Blackpool for a transfer fee

Leeds United have confirmed Oliver Casey’s transfer to Blackpool for an undisclosed fee after 10 years at Elland Road.

The 20-year-old first signed on with the Whites as an under-11 prospect and worked his way through the age groups to establish himself as one of the academy’s premier centre-backs.

Casey played for the first team three times during his time with the club, first in the Championship at Huddersfield Town in December 2019 and then twice last term in the EFL Cup and FA Cup.

The Tangerines recently won promotion to the Championship via League One’s play-offs and have agreed a three-year contract with the defender.

A Leeds statement said: “Everyone at Leeds United would like to thank Olly for his efforts and professionalism throughout his time at the club and we wish him all the very best for the future.”

The transfer will go through on July 1 at Bloomfield Road. Casey had two years remaining on his United contract.
