Leeds United confirm Kalvin Phillips injury as European Super League plans revealed

Here is the Leeds morning digest for Wednesday, October 21.

Leeds United confirm the severity of Kalvin Phillips injury sustained in Wolves defeat

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips could miss six weeks of action following a shoulder injury he suffered against Wolves, the club have confirmed.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 at Elland Road on Monday night thanks to a deflected effort from Raul Jimenez.

Phillips suffered a shoulder injury during the match, and while he won’t require surgery, Leeds have revealed he could be out for up to six weeks.

On the severity of Phillips’ injury, a club statement read: “Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips suffered a shoulder injury in last night’s Premier League defeat to Wolves at Elland Road.

“Whilst we are pleased to confirm that surgery is not required, the Leeds-born England International could still face up to six weeks on the sidelines.

Post-match press conference with Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa following their 1-0 loss to Wolves in the Premier League

“Kalvin began his rehab at Thorp Arch this morning and will be working hard with the medical team to return to action as soon as possible.”

Leeds United fans noticed what Raul Jimenez did to Robin Koch in Wolves defeat

Raul Jimenez was the difference-maker for Wolves against Leeds on Monday night, but it didn’t stop Leeds fans noticing a small coming-together he had with Robin Koch.

The pair were battling it out all night at Elland Road, with Koch barely giving his opponent time to get settled before trying to win the ball back.

It would seem that rough-and-ready approach irked Jimenez, and the match-winner was lucky to be on the pitch after he appeared to kick out at Koch.

That left the Leeds fans incensed, and you can read their reactions here .

Liverpool and Man Utd may reshape landscape for Leeds United after European Premier League talks

Manchester United and Liverpool are leading the charge in “bombshell” talks that could see some of England’s biggest clubs join a new European Premier League.

Sky News reported the news that the tournament has backing from FIFA and would include Europe’s elite clubs in an attempt to “reshape the sport’s global landscape”.

The report claims that clubs in Germany, France, Italy, England and Spain are interested with a proposed start date of 2022 suggested.

Up to five English clubs could take part, with Arsenal , Chelsea , Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur considered as part of the plans.
