Leeds United confirm first transfer of the summer window with loan switch

Leeds United have confirmed their first transfer of the summer window with the departure of Ryan Edmondson on loan to League One Fleetwood Town.

The 20-year-old will head out for the duration of 2021/22 under the tutelage of former Elland Road chief Simon Grayson and look to make an impression.

The former York City hotshot had his first taste of regular men’s football last season with loans to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership and Northampton Town, also in the third tier.

In 37 appearances across both clubs, Edmondson struck just four goals and will hope to give a more prolific account of himself next term.

There are two years remaining on Edmondson’s current Elland Road contract, though nothing has been announced by the club since the previous deal he signed, which would have expired this summer.

Fleetwood finished 15th in the third tier last season and have former Whites goalkeeper Alex Cairns on their books.
