Leeds United have completed their first signing of the January transfer window after the club confirmed that Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile has joined on a permanent deal.
News of the club's interest in the 18-year-old first emerged earlier in the month and he was spotted in the stands at Elland Road last Saturday as Leeds suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Caprile has signed three-and-a-half year deal, meaning his contract runs until the summer of 2023 and he will train the senior goalkeepers at the club.
The teenager has already appeared for Italy's Under-18s and is considered a hot prospect in his home country. He joins from Chievo Verona, having yet to make an appearance in senior football but he's received praise in the Serie B side's Primavera (youth) team and has made their first-team bench 13 times.
It's been suggested that he'll usurp Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek to become the club's third-choice goalkeeper, while he could deputise on the bench for Illan Meslier in the event that Kiko Casilla is handed a ban, with an FA investigation over alleged racial abuse ongoing.
