Leeds United confirm Eddie Nketiah signing as Arsenal forward arrives to replace Kemar Roofe

Leeds United have completed the loan signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

The 20-year-old forward has signed a season-long loan deal with Leeds seeing off interest from Championship rivals Bristol City and clubs in Germany to land the England under-21 interational.

Nketiah has been brought in as a replacement for last season's leading goalscorer Kemar Roofe, who signed for Anderlecht last week, with Leeds opting to land the Gunners youngster over Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, who was also being monitored by the club this summer.

Last season Nketiah made nine senior appearances, netting in a 3-1 win against Burnley in his last outing.

Nketiah was the subject of more than 30 enquiries over the summer at Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners whittled the list down to nine suitors and then two - Fortuna Dusseldorf and Bristol City.

Director of football Victor Orta made a late play for the frontman on Tuesday, but sold the Whites vision under Marcelo Bielsa to his friend and ex-colleague Unai Emery.

The forward is Leeds' sixth signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Jack Clarke, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier and Ben White.
