Leeds United confirm Clarke Oduor has joined Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on a permanent deal

Leeds United have confirmed that Clarke Oduor has joined Barnsley on a permanent transfer.

The two Yorkshire sides agreed an undisclosed fee for the 20-year-old, who was one of the standout performers for Leeds' successful under-23 side last term but will now ply his trade at Oakwell.

Oduor made one senior appearance for Leeds, coming off the bench in the FA Cup third round defeat at QPR in January and was a part of the club's touring party to Australia for their pre-season trip last month.

He has signed a four-year contract and joins Aapo Halme and Mallik Wilks in swapping the Whites for the Tykes this summer.

“I’m excited for the new challenge and what it’s going to bring," he told the club's website. "It’s great that Barnsley have faith in me and they want me so much and, for me personally, it’s a great boost.

"Knowing a few lads here will help me settle into the club a lot easier and help me hit the ground running. I spoke to Wilksy a few times, he gave me a heads up about what it’s like here and everything was all positive."

“I can bring attacking pace down the left, creativity and hopefully a few assists. I’ve played a lot on the left-wing and at left-back, so I’m quite versatile.”

The winger's exit completes Leeds' transfer business for the summer window, with the club having brought in goalkeeper Illan Meslier and striker Eddie Nketiah on loan, whilst selling Tom Pearce to Wigan on deadline day.
