Leeds United complete signing of exciting Arsenal youngster Sam Greenwood

Leeds United have once again bolstered their Under-23s ranks with the signing of Arsenal striker Sam Greenwood.

The 18-year-old, who was also attracting interest from Manchester United, has joined the Whites for what is understood to be a seven-figure fee.

Greenwood, who started his career at Sunderland, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Elland Road.

The striker's arrival in West Yorkshire means he has become the club's fifth signing of the summer specifically for the Under-23s squad, following in the footsteps of former Ajax goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel, Fulham defender Cody Drameh, Linfield starlet Charlie Allen and Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardrt.

Greenwood arrives at Elland Road after two successful years within Arsenal's academy, having stepped up for the Under-23s, despite his tender age.

Arsenal confirmed the move subject to the completion of regulatory processes in a statement on their website, wishing the teenager all the best in his future career, as they wrote: "Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Sam for his contribution during his time with us and wish him all the best at Leeds United."

Just like those who have already sealed a moves to Elland Road this summer to keep the club's youth ranks topped-up with exciting talent, Greenwood will be setting himself the goal of one day forcing himself into Marcelo Bielsa's first-team plans, with the Argentine having not shieded away from handing opportunities to youngsters in the past.
