Leeds United chief's last-ditch attempt to snatch Daniel James from Man Utd as next 24 hours crucial - reports

Leeds United chief Victor Orta has reportedly urged Daniel James to delay a decision over his future.

The Elland Road director of football wants the Swansea City star to wait to see if they are promoted through the play-offs to the Premier League, according to Football Insider .

Orta has contacted James' camp with the message to hold fire on any talks with other clubs.

Leeds face Derby on Wednesday evening in the second leg of their semi-final, with the Whites holding a 1-0 lead over the Rams.

The next 24 hours, then, are crucial for Leeds' hopes of signing the Welshman, who has been widely linked with a number of Premier League heavyweights.

The devastating impact Graham Potter's Brighton move would have on Swansea City

Manchester United appear to be the frontrunners for James' signature, although WalesOnline understands there has been no approach from the Old Trafford club for him.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, but it is understood it is Newcastle and Bournemouth who have enquired about him.

Leeds had a deal for James all-but sealed on the last day of the January transfer window, but Swansea chiefs pulled the plug at the last minute.

Swansea are in contract talks with James at present, but with uncertainty hanging over Graham Potter's head amid Brighton speculation, James' future remains clouded at best.

The Swansea City tactic that will annoy Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle and Leeds United this summer
