Leeds United chief points finger at Arsenal for 'unfair treatment' amid Forest transfer battle

Marcelo Bielsa has slammed Premier League giants Arsenal for their "unfair treatment" of Leeds United during this month's transfer window.

The Whites saw striker Eddie Nketiah recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road after making only three starts.

And Nketiah will now be staying at Arsenal for the rest of the season, dashing the hopes of numerous Championship clubs, including Nottingham Forest - with Sabri Lamouchi keen to bring a striker to the City Ground.

The 20-year-old striker looked set to be moving to Bristol City this week, and the Arsenal website even suggested as much on Tuesday evening, having held talks with Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

But will now see out the rest of the season fighting for a place in the first team at the Emirates Stadium.

Bielsa said: “About these new players in the team: I have done all the explanations, given all the information, the unfair treatment of Arsenal and Nketiah,” said the Leeds head coach.

“When they choose Leeds, they thought a lot about it. They chose us over the other options they had.

“We did everything we said we were going to do. So, we have nothing to claim ourselves. The same with Clarke.

He added: "In this moment we don’t have those two players and the club is going to do all that is possible to resolve the situation.”

Forest remain desperate to add a striker to their ranks this month, with Lewis Grabban the club’s only recognised senior frontman, after loan flop Rafa Mir had his loan spell from Wolves terminated.

He’s since moved to Spanish outfit Huesca.

The Reds retain an interest in Brighton's Glenn Murray and Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia, while target Che Adams looks set to stay and fight for his place at Southampton and the financial demands within the Dwight Gayle deal make that one unlikley.
