Leeds United detail two main January transfer window challenges they must overcome with new faces

January remains a difficult month for Leeds United to do transfer business in, but Angus Kinnear has underlined Andrea Radrizzani’s and San Franciso 49ers’ commitment to strengthen.

With the Whites squad savaged by injuries and Covid diagnoses in recent weeks, the calls for January shopping have grown louder and louder.

With Marcelo Bielsa’s squad still languishing in the bottom five on four wins for the season, there is some anxiety on the terraces about the strength in depth should injuries persist in 2022.

Episodes like those with Jean-Kevin Augustin have left a sour taste in the mouth when it comes the mid-season window and the chances of finding someone who can make a swift impact.

“Naturally, supporters will be looking to the January transfer window for reasons to be optimistic,” Kinnear said in his programme notes for the Burnley game.

“Under the custodianship of Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers, we have never failed to demonstrate our commitment to strengthen the squad in every window.

“However, we should not underestimate the challenge of securing targets who can meet Marcelo’s exacting standards and have the immediate impact that is required this season.”

The window opened on Saturday and as it stands there have been no firm links between the Elland Road outfit and senior acquisitions.
