Leeds United charged by FA as Angus Kinnear delivers update on Ben White transfer

Here are the latest Leeds United headlines from the Premier League's fixture release day.

Chief offers White update

Angus Kinnear has issued Leeds United's supporters with an update on the club’s pursuit of Ben White.

The Brighton defender enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at Elland Road last season - playing a key role in the club's Championship title-winning campaign and return to the top flight.

But despite Brighton contemplating the idea of letting White go permanently, Leeds face a tough battle to land the centre-back.

A recent report claimed that the Premier League's top six have shown their interest in the former Whites loan star.

Leeds' fixtures released

Leeds United's fixtures for the 2020/21 Premier League season have been confirmed this morning.

United face a trip to reigning champions Liverpool on the opening day of their first Premier League season since 2003/04 and their first match back at Elland Road will be against fellow promoted side Fulham.

Marcelo Bielsa's side then face a Yorkshire derby away at Sheffield United before back-to-back home matches with Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The first match with bitter enemies Manchester United is at Old Trafford on the weekend of the 19th December while the return match at Elland Road will be on the 24th April.

FA hand Whites charge

Leeds United have had their wrists slapped by The FA for celebrating their Championship title triumph too vigorously at Derby County last month.

After watching both West Bromwich Albion and Brentford conspire to hand the Whites the championship across the last weekend of the campaign, they went to Derby with nothing to play for.

After wiping the floor with the Rams, United proceeded to celebrate on the pitch after full-time with banners, champagne and pyrotechnics in front of the assembled media.

The Football Association has given the Elland Road outfit until September 3 to respond to the charge, which accuses the club of failing to ensure its employees failed to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.

The FA released the following: "Leeds United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following its EFL Championship fixture against Derby County FC on July 19, 2020.

"It is alleged the club failed to ensure its players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion as pyrotechnic devices were used following the conclusion of the fixture. Full story here
