Leeds United 'buzz' backed to take Premier League by storm as Sheffield United comparisons drawn

Jamie O’Hara believes Leeds United will finish above Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United this season, as the two come head-to-head this weekend.

The Whites travel to Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon, as Marcelo Bielsa’s men look to make it back-to-back Premier League victories.

Leeds are currently on three points from a possible six after last weekend’s 4-3 victory over Fulham at Elland Road.

However, the Blades are currently without a point and have found it difficult so far to maintain last season’s high levels.

Chris Wilder led his side to a ninth-place finish in their first season back in the top-flight, where they were even challenging for a Europa League place before the three-month hiatus of football.

As for Leeds, it’s their first season back in the Premier League for 16 years, but despite this, O’Hara believes Bielsa can lead his side to a stronger finish than Sheffield United.

When asked on talkSPORT, who would finish higher this season, O’Hara said: “That’s a question. I’m going to say Leeds, I think Leeds are going to finish higher than Sheffield United this season.

“I’m not saying it (Sheffield United’s last season) was a fluke, they were absolutely brilliant last season and I said it from the start of last season that they were gonna be great.

“The problem they have this season is, one: without fans, I think they’re struggling because Bramall Lane is electric when the fans are there and they really get behind the team.

“Two: teams are really starting to suss out how to get results against that formation and how to sort of nullify Sheffield United’s strengths.

“They’ve really got to be good this season in order to get results. I think they lack goals a little bit - they lack a star man who’s gonna get them 20 goals a season.

“The second season for Sheffield United is so important but it’s always the tougher season because you have to stay in there now, and they’re expected to do it again. That’s really hard.

“Leeds are on that buzz now, they’re in the Premier League, they’re flying. They’re going to get results, they’re going to lose games but I think they’ll do more than enough to stay in the Premier League this season, but I think Sheffield United are going to struggle.”
