Leeds United bring in Swedish prospect for week-long Thorp Arch trial

A Swedish teenage midfielder will spend the week in training with Leeds United after the club made a request to bring him across the North Sea for a trial period.

Nuhu Jatta will spend Tuesday to Sunday away from parent club GAIS, who play in the Superettan, in order to work with the Whites' youth squad in order for the club to run the rule over him at Thorp Arch.

The 16-year-old became the first player born in 2003 to play at senior level for a Swedish club when he made his debut earlier this year.

Since then, he has racked up four first-team appearances for his side, who narrowly avoided slipping into the relegation places this season, while Jatta also trained with Serie A club SPAL earlier this year.

Several of United's young prospects have impressed this season, while first-team contenders such as Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah have frequently fired on all cylinders at youth level.

They notched up a 5-1 drubbing of Bolton Wanderers on Monday night to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for silverware this season.

Marcelo Bielsa and his first team meanwhile face a trip to fellow play-off hopefuls Fulham to kick off their hectic festive schedule, in what many see as a key test of their promotion credentials.

The Argentine famously saw his side suffer a second-half slump last season to squeeze them out of the automatic places and into an ultimately doomed play-off encounter with Derby County.
