Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa's first words on Kiko Casilla's FA ban

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has spoken for the first time since his goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was banned by the Football Association for eight games.

The FA finally confirmed on Friday night that the Leeds stopper will be banned for eight matches for using racist or discriminatory language following an incident which took place during Leeds' 1-0 loss to Charlton back in September.

A hearing took place earlier this month, with the FA's verdict coming more than a week after it was concluded, with the keeper also fined £60,000 and instructed to take an educational course.

“The authorities took this decision,” Bielsa told Sky Sports before his side’s clash with Hull City.

“The club has expressed its point of view and also Casilla's. You knew that maybe it was a possibility. He prepares to say nothing on the decision the federation took.

“We have to accept the decision of the people who judge the situation. And of course we are sorry, it is a pity for us that Kiko is not with us.

“But we trust that we can resolve the situation.”
