Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa delivers injury update ahead of Bristol City clash

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed his side will be missing three players for this weekend's clash against Bristol City.

The Whites kick off their Championship campaign against Lee Johnson's side at the Ashton Gate on Sunday afternoon, in a game which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

And Bielsa, speaking to the assembled press at Thorp Arch, confirmed Luke Ayling, Tyler Roberts and Kemar Roofe will all miss the game.

"We’re missing Ayling, Roberts and Roofe too," the Argentine responded when asked if he had any injury concerns. "This is the three players we miss.

"Ayling had an operation on his ankle and Tyler is in a process that will finally be an operation."

While Roofe, who has been linked with a move away from club in the last 24 hours, remains sidelined after sustaining an ankle injury in his side's pre-season victory over Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia.

There was better news for Whites fans with the Argentine confirming youngster Jamie Shackleton is available after missing the last few weeks of pre-season with a thigh issue.

"He is ready," Bielsa replied when asked about the fitness of Shackleton.
