Football fans from Football League clubs across the country have had their say on who they believe are the best players in the second, third and fourth tiers.
FourFourTwo’s annual ranking of the top 51 stars in the EFL collected votes from fans of every club in the Championship, League One and League Two.
With strict rules ensuring that supporters cannot vote for players in their own side, the vote gives an overview of how rival fans see the opponents they have come up against this season — and the results are now in, with just one Swansea City star meriting inclusion.
Unsurprisingly it was Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki who led the way — after being crowned Player of the Year at this week’s awards — and was voted in number one spot ahead of former Swans star Pablo Hernandez, who, despite playing a starring role for Leeds United this season, did not make the EFL’s Team of the Season.
Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp completed the top three and the Blades saw Oliver Norwood placed fifth, with the duo separated by Derby County’s 22-year-old Welshman Harry Wilson — who has caught the eye on loan from Liverpool.
Sixth and seventh place had a very West Midlands feel, with Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, ranking ahead of Birmingham City superstar Che Adams — who has courted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.
Blackburn Rovers’ Bradley Dack was placed eighth after settling into the Championship excellently following a promotion winning campaign from League One last term, while Leeds and Villa both saw a second player finish in the top 10 with Kemar Roofe and Jack Grealish completing the list.
Oli McBurnie was the only Swans player recognised in the list, deemed good enough for the top 51 but not the top 10.
Overall, 18 of the 24 clubs in the Championship saw players selected in the top 51, with those missing out being the six sides currently sitting at the bottom of the table — Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers, Rotherham, Reading, Wigan Athletic and Millwall.
Unsurprisingly, the clubs who dominated the rankings are those who sit highest in the table with promotion-chasing trio Norwich City, Leeds United and Sheffield United all having three players selected.
Derby County, Aston Villa, West Brom, Hull City and Birmingham City all had two players from their squads selected, along with Queens Park Rangers, while the remaining clubs in the division, all had one player selected.
McBurnie was the Swans' representative, meaning impressive stars such as Daniel James, Bersant Celina, Mike van der Hoorn and Matt Grimes all missed out.
