Leeds United ask for Thorp Arch planning permission on extension

Leeds United have made a minor planning application for an extension in size and lifespan for an annexe at Thorp Arch.

Leeds City Council granted planning permission for the installation of a 359-square-metre, two-storey modular building at the training ground in 2018.

The temporary structure was permitted to remain at the back of the Thorp Arch car park until December 2021, so United are asking to prolong that permission.

In this new application made to the council, the Whites also wish to extend the annexe with a 151-square-metre construction added to the side.

The building is made up of offices and teaching space for academy players and staff which were moved from the main Thorp Arch training centre.

You can read over the application in full and look at an impression of how the new structure will look, here.

The council is taking public comments on the application until October 12 and hopes to decide on permission by November 1.

The club recently ended its plan to build a new training complex in Leeds city centre on the former Matthew Murray High School site near Elland Road.

While there remains an ambition to create a new city centre training ground, there are currently no plans or sites in place for such a venture.
