Nahitan Nandez is not on the verge of joining Leeds United, nor even on Victor Orta’s current transfer shortlist as it stands.
The Cagliari midfielder has been linked with Marcelo Bielsa and the Whites on and off for the last few transfer windows, but reports from Italy again escalated in recent days.
Fuelled in part by comments by his agent, several stories have placed the Uruguay international, currently playing in the Copa America in Brazil, on the verge of signing at Elland Road.
However, LeedsLive understands this is not the case and the 25-year-old is not currently on the list Orta is working with as he looks to enhance the United roster for the 2021/22 campaign.
With the Whites set to report back in West Yorkshire later next week for the start of pre-season, there are not yet any new faces in place.
Ezgjan Alioski’s contract expires in three days and it remains unclear what his intentions are with a new contract offer still on the table at Elland Road for him.
