Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion to rival Bristol City, Wigan Athletic and QPR for West Ham's Jordan Hugill - report

Two Championship big guns have joined Bristol City in the race to sign West Ham's Jordan Hugill.

While Wigan Athletic have reportedly agreed a fee for the 27-year-old striker, Leeds United and West Brom have added their names his lengthy list of suitors according to the Daily Star .

It was revealed last week that the Robins had revived their interest in the Hammers flop, with talks between the east London club and the Latics ongoing.

Queens Park Rangers are the other side said to be monitoring his situation.

A complicating factor is Hugill's demand for compensation from West Ham to make up for the pay cut that would come with dropping back down to the Championship permanently, thought to be about 50 per cent.

Bristol City were interested in signing Hugill back in January 2018 until he ultimately decided to move to the top flight from Preston North End.

He played just 35 minutes of Premier League football in three substitute appearances before being shipped out on loan to Middlesbrough last season.

The forward struggled to emulate the form in the Championship that saw the east London club splash around £10m to take him to the Olympic Stadium, scoring six times in 37 appearances.

He is back with West Ham for pre-season but the Mirror suggests he is surplus to requirements at his parent club as they go in search of a cheap striker to provide cover and competition for record signing Sebastien Haller.

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson has made no secret of his desire to sign at least one more attacker this summer.

The club has also been linked with Sheffield Wednesday's Lucas Joao, Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah and Kieffer Moore of Barnley in recent days and weeks.
