Sheffield United's superior goal difference (+32 to +26) is what has them above Leeds at the moment but three games remain.
There could still be twists and turns to come as both sides aim to get over the line and avoid having to do battle in the play-offs.
Sheffield United still have remaining matches at Hull City on Easter Monday, at home against Ipswich Town and away at Stoke City.
Leeds, meanwhile, visit Brentford on Easter Monday, host Aston Villa next Saturday and take the trip to Ipswich Town on the final day.
Both sides face Ipswich but it's Leeds who take on the highest ranked opponents in fifth-place Aston Villa. However, Sheffield United will be wary of meeting a Hull City side who have been one of the strongest sides in the Championship since the turn of the year.
