Leeds United and Rangers made to wait for chance to land Liverpool ace who flopped at Bristol City

It may not have worked out for him at Bristol City, but Liverpool midfielder Ryan Kent is a man very much in demand this summer.

Kent, 22, played just 11 games for the Robins after joining the club on loan in January 2018 to some fanfare.

In the end he was handed just six Championship starts and Bristol City even had to pay a fine to Champions League winners Liverpool for not playing him enough to meet the terms of their loan agreement.

However after a sterling season playing for Steven Gerrard's Rangers side which saw him named the club's Young Player of the Year award and also included in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year, he has rebuilt his reputation.

Kent scored six goals in 43 appearances for Rangers as they finished second in the Scottish Premiership behind bitter rivals Celtic.

Both Gerrard and Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa are keen to land him on loan ahead of the forth-coming season but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has disappointed both parties by temporarily blocking another loan move for Ryan Kent reports The Mirror.

But Klopp wants to hang on to Kent because he is missing his first-choice front three of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino for the start of pre-season and the academy product will be involved in their early fixtures, starting with Thursday's game against Tranmere.

Klopp will also include Kent in his squad for Sunday’s match against Bradford and will take him on the club’s US tour.

Kent, 22, has spent the last four campaigns out on loan and had spells at Coventry, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City before joining Gers for last season.
