Leeds United and promotion rivals to begin testing today ahead of return to training - reports

Championship players will undergo coronavirus tests today ahead of a potential return to training next week.

Leeds United and their rivals will begin testing players and staff today after meetings with the EFL, according to the Daily Mail.

Discussions continued on Wednesday over how to finish the season and the latest plans suggest the second tier could return to training next week providing testing doesn't throw up significant complications.

To get the ball rolling, tests will take place across the 24 clubs today and tomorrow with results being collated on Sunday.

If the EFL are happy with those results, group training - as it has in the Premier League - will return on Monday ahead of a proposed resumption date of June 20, according to the report.

Clubs will receive strict guidelines this week on social-distancing measures and how to ensure training grounds are safe.

The beginning of the process to return will come as a huge boost to leaders Leeds and indeed second-place West Brom.

Further down the pyramid, League Two has been cancelled but League One remain in discussions on how to end their season.
