Leeds United and Nottingham Forest will be hoping Bristol City prediction comes true

Bristol City are on course for the play-off places.

That is according to the website Five Thirty Eight, who have created a data model to predict how the Championship will finish this season.

It is good news for the Robins, who have a 29 per cent chance of making the play-offs after their thumping win over Huddersfield Town at the weekend.

City are predicted to finish in the final play-off spot, one point ahead of Preston North End, and they also have a 10 per cent chance of getting promoted.

If the prediction rings true, it will set up a play-off semi-final between the Robins and Fulham - meaning fans can get a preview of what might happen when the two teams meet this weekend.

Elsewhere, Leeds United are predicted to win the Championship, finishing on 92 points.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have an incredible 50 per cent chance of winning the title according to the data model, and an 81 per cent chance of getting promoted.

West Brom are tipped to finish second, five points behind Leeds - they have a 26 per cent chance of taking the league title and a 61 per cent chance of getting promoted.

Brentford and Nottingham Forest complete the play-off picture.

At the other end of the table, Barnsley, Luton Town and Wigan Athletic are tipped to be relegated.
