Leeds United and Nottingham Forest set for battle over Leipzig striker

Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are all set to be involved in a January transfer battle according to reports.

Jean-Kevin Augustin of RB Leipzig is the subject of interest from both clubs according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The same report believes that Leeds hold the upper hand - but that the presence of Sabri Lamouchi at Forest could persuade the striker to make the move to the City Ground, and that RB Leipzig aren't against a sale.

The forward is currently on loan at Monaco, but has only made two league starts. Last season he scored three goals in four starts for the German side - but it would seem that the PSG graduate is heading for the door at Leipzig.

Leeds have turned their attention to the striker after their pursuit of Southampton's Che Adams hit a brick wall. Forest are in the market for a new striker as well. Both teams are racing for promotion to the Premier League.
