Leeds United and Luton Town among clubs scouting Bristol Rovers against Coventry City as on-loan Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County men impress

Bristol Rovers played out a goalless draw with Coventry City yesterday.

With the game taking place on a Sunday, a number of opposition managers took the chance to attend the game on scouting missions.

Luton Town caretaker boss Mick Harford was spotted at the match, and Bradford City's Gary Bowyer was also in attendance.

A member of Leeds United's backroom staff is also believed to have been at the game.

Bowyer's attendance at the game makes sense - with Bradford set to play the Gas and Coventry in their next two matches - but Harford's presence is more intriguing.

As well as being caretaker manager, Harford is also head of recruitment at the Hatters, who seem a shoo-in for the League One title.

They sit eight points clear of second-placed Barnsley with five games to go, so barring an absolute collapse, they will likely be playing in the Championship next season.

Of course, if they do somehow throw promotion away, Coventry are one of the teams the Hatters could face in the play-offs, (although the possibility of the Sky Blues finishing in the top six is a remote one after yesterday's draw) so Harford may well have just been scouting potential opposition.

Yet it is more likely he - and the member of Leeds' backroom staff - were looking at potential players for next season.

'The players put their bodies on the line for the fans' - Every word from Graham Coughlan following Bristol Rovers' draw at Coventry

Who they were looking at is unknown, but there are a fair few possibilities from both sides.

There has been recent speculation that scouts were keeping tabs on Jonson Clarke-Harris, and Harford spoke glowingly about the striker after he scored in the Gas' 2-1 defeat to Luton the previous weekend.

Rovers keeper Jack Bonham produced a standout performance in the draw, making two or three fine saves to keep the scores level as he recorded his 17th clean sheet of the season, and he is out of contract at Brentford at the end of the season, meaning he is available on a free transfer.

The Sky Blues' top scorer, Jordy Hiwula, has hit 10 goals from the wing this season and could well be the sort of player clubs are keeping their eyes on ahead of the summer.

Coventry also have two players who have impressed on loan this season.

Bright Enobakhare is on loan at the Ricoh from Wolves, whilst Luke Thomas is on loan from Derby - after impressing in League One, some Championship clubs may be interested in them come the summer.
