Leeds United and Birmingham City fans face traffic delays following serious M1 collision

Leeds United and Birmingham City supporters are being warned of possible traffic delays ahead of today’s match at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men host the Blues in the Championship clash which is due to kick off at 3pm.

Those driving to Leeds for the match might encounter trouble on the roads after a serious incident closed a section of the M1.

The collision closed the carriageway between J35a Stockbridge and J36 Tankersley - on both sides.

The incident, which we are currently live blogging, happened overnight and emergency services are still at the scene. It is thought the section of the road will reopen at around 3pm.

In the meantime, there is lots of traffic around the area and Highways England has given advice to football fans making journeys around the region this afternoon.
