Leeds United and Aston Villa to battle it out for in-demand striker, Liverpool told to sign Cardiff City star, Derby County youngster close to Man City move - Championship reports

The latest transfer gossip from around the Championship...

Leeds and Villa in race for striker

Leeds United and Aston Villa are set to battle it out for in-demand Juventus striker Stephy Mavididi, according to TeamTalk.

The 21-year-old left Arsenal last summer to join the Serie A club and spent the season with the club's under-23s side.

However, his rapid development saw him earn an appearance in the senior side towards the end of the season.

Now, Everton, Newcastle, Southampton, Burnley, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Derby Fulham and Middlesbrough are all said to be interested.

Liverpool urged to sign Cardiff City star

Liverpool have been urged to sign Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge this summer by Reds legend Steve Nicol.

Nicol says current Liverpool No.2 Simon Mignolet 'has to go' this summer and believes Etheridge is the man to replace him.

"I think this would be a good signing," he told ESPN FC.

“I think the 69 goals he [Etheridge] let in, he probably had no chance with 55 of them, let’s be honest.

“Mignolet has to go, he has to go and play. You need a back-up who is going to be happy to be there but who is of a certain level that whenever something may happen to Alisson, you’re going to put Etheridge in and he’s going to do a great job."

Derby youngster close to City move

Derby County youngster Liam Delap is set to be closing in a move to Manchester City, according to DerbyshireLive.

The 16-year-old is thought to have caught the eye of City scouts with a string of impressive performances last season.

Should the transfer be completed, then the Rams will be entitled to compensation for Delap, who is the son of former Premier League star Rory.

Aston Villa preparing bid for Stoke keeper

Aston Villa are set to bid for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

According to the Express and Star , the newly-promoted Premier League club will make an offer of around £20m for the stopper.

Although the report states that the Potters are holding out for around £23m.

QPR planning move for Judge

QPR are planning a move to sign Alan Judge from Ipswich Town this summer.

According to the Mirror , Judge is keen for a reunion with his former boss Mark Warburton, who has just been appointed Rangers manager.

The 30-year-old impressed last season, despite being a part of the Town side which was relegated from the Championship.

Forest told to pay up for Whyte

Nottingham Forest have been told they will have to stump up £4m for Oxford’s Gavin Whyte.

Forest manager Martin O’Neill is keen to bring Whyte to the City Ground this summer.

But according to the Mirror , the former European Cup winners have been told by U’s boss Karl Robinson that any deal for his side’s star will cost them over £4m.
