Leeds United and Aston Villa backed to battle for West Ham transfer target Matty Cash

Former Aston Villa striker Darren Bent believes that Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash is ready-made for Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United.

Cash has been linked with a move to West Ham ahead of this summer - but Bent is adamant that Leeds will be in the hunt to sign him.

And he has also thrown Villa's hat in the ring, describing his former club as exactly the type of team who would be keen on landing him.

If Bielsa's Leeds side are promoted this term then that would prove a big boost to their hopes of signing the defender.

But Villa will also have to avoid the drop this term if they themselves want to stand a chance to sign Cash.

“He’s got a great work rate," Bent told Football Insider.

"He’s got good quality and he does seem like a Bielsa-type player with the way that he plays.

He continued: “He’s certainly an option for them, I’m sure if Leeds go up they’ll be in for him, there’s going to be other Premier League clubs who will there to try and steal him as well.

“You’ve got to look at the teams from the Premier League, look at the likes of, to put this out there, Aston Villa, they might go: ‘We like him.’ Whatever the outcome at the end of the season, Matty Cash is going to have some takers.”
