Former Leeds United defender Tyler Denton is currently on trial with League Two side Exeter City.
The 24-year-old, who came through the academy at Elland Road, featured in the Grecians’ 2-1 friendly defeat to Bristol Rovers on Saturday as he looks for a new club.
The left-back came off the bench as Exeter boss Matt Taylor completely changed his side for the second half.
According to DevonLive, Denton “looked assured in possession and in defence during his 25-minute cameo."
Denton was released by Stevenage earlier this summer, with the Hertfordshire club having looked set for life in non-league before they were given a reprieve, with Macclesfield Town instead being relegated following an EFL appeal against a points deduction.
The defender began his career with the Whites, turning professional in 2014 before making his first-team debut in an EFL Cup tie against Luton Town in August 2016.
During his time at Elland Road, he took in loan spells at Port Vale and Peterborough United during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons respectively before he joined Stevenage for an undisclosed fee last summer.
Denton made 19 appearances for Stevenage as they finished bottom of League Two, with the season being cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He was released in June, but could be an option for Exeter ahead of the new season, with Taylor short at left-back, but without any funds to bring new players to Devon.
“There is one area I want to still strengthen because we are a little bit short with the players that have departed,” Taylor said.
