Leeds today: Library consultation, Ed Balls, Otley tax and Leeds Crisis Centre

Good morning Leeds.

The big news to break early yesterday evening was that Morley and Outwood MP Ed Balls has taken over as the new shadow chancellor following the resignation of Alan Johnson.

What's making Leeds tick today?

East Leeds-based Coven blog writes an opinion piece on 'New Chapter' - the planned library reorganisation and closures in Leeds - and the possible impact a library closure could have on the Richmond Hill area.

A citywide public consultation to get people's views about how Leeds council provides residential and day care services for older people in the future is now under way and will run until April 2011.

Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland has written to councillor Lucinda Yeadon, the executive board member with responsibilities for Adult Social Care, expressing concern about the proposed closure of the Leeds Crisis Centre in Headingley, reports North Leeds Life.
