Leeds today: Headingley Heart, Bramleydom and Chapeltown Global Village Market

Good morning Leeds.

Big day ahead. The unions will protest against council cuts from around noon today outside the Civic Hall as councillors prepare to debate setting the council's budget for the coming financial year. On the budget agenda includes the future of leisure centres, day and residential centres, as well as up to 3,000 council job losses. The councillors will debate the budget at a full council meeting between 1pm and 7pm.

What's making Leeds tick today?

A community centre which welcomed its first VIP guest in the form of deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has officially opened its doors, reports the YEP. Mike Chitty's also blogged about the opening on his Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Community blog.

What is the future of Leeds? You may find an answer to that question during a debate held by Leeds Salon at the Congreve Room at the West Yorkshire Playhouse this evening.
