Powerful elected mayors are set to be imposed on Leeds and Wakefield without voters having a say first, reports the YEP.
Biffa's bid to build an incinerator at the old Skelton Grange Power Station comes under scrutiny by the East Leeds-based No2Incinerator campaign, who say it's time to regenerate their community, not build more incinerators. They write on their blog:
"The people here feel that they have done more than their share of bearing the burden of cleaning up the waste of this city and have seen nothing in return and it is time for someone else to carry the load for a while."
There are some pictures of the Leeds Asian Fesitval, which attracted thousands of people to Roundhay Park yesterday, over at the BBC.
People who paid thousands of pounds in deposits for apartments in the prestigious Lumiere building in Leeds have met to discuss bringing legal action against the developers, reports Leeds Today.
