Leeds to miss out on promotion as QPR and Millwall avoid the drop - predicted Championship table

There's just a few weeks left of the Championship season, and we're all on tenterhooks as to how the campaign will pan out.

It's all still to play for, with the automatic promotion spots, the play-off positions and the relegation zone all to be decided.

One thing we do know is that it's going to be a very exciting finale.

While the drama of the run-in is what we all look forward to as football fans, there's part of all of us that wants to know how the table will look after the final day.

While it's impossible to look into the future, the next best thing is to use popular computer game Football Manager 2019 to simulate the remaining games to see what the league will look like - and that's exactly what Sky Sports have done.

The distance travelled by QPR, Brentford and Millwall players during the international break

But how did our London sides get on? Let's take a look.

Thankfully for QPR, Brentford and Millwall there will be no end of season tears with all three sides expected to avoid the drop.

The Bees will finish as top dogs out of the three clubs - ending the season in 16th place on 59 points.

Despite a torrid 2019, Queens Park Rangers will show enough in their remaining game to stay in the Championship - including a run of five games unbeaten in the last five, including a stunning three-match winning run.

That will see the Hoops finish a place below Brentford on 58 points.

As for Millwall, Neil Harris' side show enough in terms of battling qualities to see some daylight between them and the bottom three.

One defeat in their final five games will see the Lions finish 20th on 46 points - a comfortable nine points above the drop zone.

As for the rest of the league, the title race will go down the final day with Football Manager expecting Norwich City to be crowned champions and Sheffield United to go up in second place.

What the EFL's summer transfer window statement means for QPR, Brentford, Millwall & others

They'll pick up 88 and 87 points respectively, leaving Leeds to fight it out in the play-offs on 86 points.

The blow of missing out on automatic promotion will prove costly, with West Brom tipped to be promoted through the play-off system, beating Leeds, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa to go up.

At the other end, Football Manager expects Rotherham United to join troubled Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town in League One next season.
