Leeds to be hotter than Barcelona as temperatures could reach 22C

Leeds is set to be hotter than Barcelona next week.

After certain areas of Yorkshire had experienced snowfall earlier this morning, drastic temperatures spikes are expected to follow.

The latest Met Office forecast shows that Leeds will be hotter than the Spanish city with the mercury climbing to 19C on Tuesday - Leeds' highs could reach 22C.

Bradford will not be far behind, with temperatures of 18C expected in the area.

However, the "mini heatwave" is unfortunately going to be short lived, with temperatures expected to drop 10C the following day.

Deputy Chief Meteorologist Nick Silkstone said: “From the middle of next week, once again, we expect to see a change in the weather.

"Although there are still some uncertainties in the outlook there are signs a high-pressure system could develop by the end of next week allowing cold air from the north to return across the UK bringing another dip in temperatures for Easter weekend and even a risk of some wintry showers in the northeast.”
