Leeds Thursday weather as 'extreme' 30C heatwave to hit city for days

Temperatures are going to drop tomorrow in Leeds but a brand new heat wave is on the horizon.

According to the Met Office, the weather will be cooler tomorrow in Leeds, although there will still be summer temperatures of around 21 degrees at their hottest between 2-6pm. These will drop further to around 20 degrees on Friday.

They said: “Thursday seeing sunny spells through the day but a few isolated showers likely spreading across the region through the afternoon and evening, perhaps very locally heavy in northern areas. Maximum temperature 21 °C."

By Friday, the temperature will begin to diminish. Temperatures are expected at 20 degrees on Friday and 24 degrees on Saturday.

Then, a new heatwave is likely to impact the city. Sunday is expected to see temperatures of 27 degrees before a scorching 31 degrees is set to hit Leeds on Monday, and 33C on Tuesday.

An Amber Extreme Heat Warning is therefore in place for Sunday to Tuesday. This means “population-wide adverse health effects are likely to be experienced”.

The Met Office said: “Temperatures will rise again later this week and over the coming weekend, likely peaking on Sunday and Monday, but may last into Tuesday in places.

“Some exceptionally high temperatures are possible and cumulative effects of warm nights and hot days are expected to bring widespread impacts to people and infrastructure.”
