Leeds thunderstorm hour by hour forecast with 10-hour Met Office weather warning in force

People in Leeds can put away the barbecues after a week of glorious sunshine - a serious thunderstorm is on its way.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for most of the UK, to last from 10am on Thursday until 8pm.

It signals the end of a warm week in Leeds where tempereatures reached 29 degrees on Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms on Thursday have the potential to bring surface water and flooding in a few places, and disruption to travel."

Thursday's thunderstorm forecast

There will be some light rain in the morning until 8am in Leeds.

It is due to return at around midday but it will be a couple of hours until the thunderstorm hits.

Light rain at 12pm will get heavier and turn into a full-blown storm by 2pm.

The temperature will rise gradually through the day until a high of 22 degrees just as the storm arrives.

The storm will last for about an hour and rain will continue to fall until around 5pm.

After that, it will be a dry evening in Leeds with the temperature dropping slightly into the night.
