Leeds snowfall hour by hour as Met Office issues weather warning

Snow has been forecast for Leeds just in time for the Monday morning rush hour.

On Sunday (February 23), the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow, which comes into force at 2am on Monday and lasts until 3pm.

According to Met Office advice, the weather could lead to some vehicles being stranded with passengers inside; travel delays, cancellations and power cuts.

As well as the snow, there is also a yellow weather warning for rain in place for Huddersfield.

The weather forecaster said: "The bulk of accumulations will be above 200 metres where 2-5 cm is likely in many areas whilst above 300 to 400 metres 5 to 10 cm is expected. At lower levels accumulations will be smaller, patchier and shorter-lived.

"A brief spell of freezing rain is possible as snow begins to turn to rain, leading to icy stretches. Meanwhile, given saturated ground and recent flooding, the combination of snow melt and rain may also bring about some disruption, mainly over parts of northern England."

Leeds City Council tweeted: "Gritting planned for primary routes in Leeds from 3am on Monday ahead of possible snow.

9pm-11pm: Clouding over

Midnight-1am: Cloudy
