Leeds siblings attack pair of sisters with a sledgehammer after family feud boils over

Three siblings who attacked a pair of sisters with hammers and a sledgehammer at their home as a family feud boiled over have avoided being sent to prison.

Emotions had been running high in November 2018 as 20-year-old Natasha Dhers, Damien Linton and Elisee Dhers and other family members marked the anniversary of the death of another family member.

The trio reacted angrily to something said by one of their extended family, turning up at their victims’ home in Shepherds Lane, Leeds, after 10pm on November 30.

Leeds Crown Court heard they got out of a Mercedes and made their way across the road towards their victims with father-of-two Linton shouting and screaming at their mother.

Both Natasha Dhers and Elisee Dhers were, at this time, stood behind Linton but Natasha Dhers “rushed” forward.

Prosecutor Kenneth Green said she managed to grab one of the victims by the t-shirt before pulling her hairpiece out and knocking her to the ground.

She was struck with a hammer while Linton began kicking her to the back.

Elisee Dhers, 30, attacked that same victim with a hammer as she screamed and cried.

Linton, 38, was said to have been swinging around a sledgehammer while his half-sister Elisee turned her attentions to the first victims’ sister, hitting her over the head with the hammer before striking her knees and eye with the same weapon.

All three got inside the same car they had arrived in when the victims’ cousin came out of the house and chased Linton off.

One of the sisters had suffered a cut to the head and was bleeding and losing consciousness.

She had also suffered a black eye and a cut to her finger.

Her sisters also suffered a cut to her head, broken nails and a cut to her hand.

Judge Simon Phillips said it was only a “matter of fortune” that the injuries sustained were not more serious.

Natasha Dhers, Elisee Dhers and Linton admitted affray last month and were each handed suspended sentence orders.

Natasha Dhers, of Miles Hill Street, Mile Hill, Leeds, was given an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Elisee Dhers, of John O’Gaunts Walk, Rothwell, Leeds, was handed a 21-month sentence, suspended for 24 months and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Linton, of Spencer Place, Chapeltown, Leeds, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Judge Phillips told all three they had “brought dishonour to your family” as he passed sentence.

He further ordered each defendant to pay £1,000 in compensation to their victims.
