Leeds set to be warmer than Greek island this weekend, Met Office predicts

Leeds is set for a much warmer couple of days this weekend - with temperatures even expected to top the Greek island of Mykonos.

The Met Office is predicting it could be as warm as 13C on Saturday, which would eclipse Mykonos's high of 12C.

The day will begin with light spells of rain in the early hours which should completely clear by 9am.

From then onward it is set to remain cloudy but already stuffy temperatures will rise yet further to a high of 13C.

The city is set to follow a similar pattern to that of York, Sheffield, Bradford and Huddersfield with similar forecasts in place for large areas of Yorkshire.

The warm weather will come as a welcome change to Leeds residents who have been left to battle cold and miserable weather over the past couple of months.

Over recent weeks, much of Yorkshire - including Leeds - has been under a yellow ice and snow warning and the adverse weather has caused major disruption across the county.

But many may be hoping the warmer weather this weekend is a sign of better things to come. Temperatures will remain high in the city on Sunday, peaking at 12C.
