Leeds sees record breaking number of daily Covid cases as Omicron sweeps across city

That is the most since the start of the pandemic and case numbers for the days since are still being calculated, meaning worse figures are likely to emerge before Christmas.

Some areas of Leeds have been hit far worse than others.

Four local areas recorded an infection rate of over 1,000 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to Friday, December 17.

These are:

  • Horsforth South & Rawdon - 1,328.3
  • Hyde Park Corner & Woodhouse Cliff - 1,158.7
  • Burley - 1,024.7
  • Kirkstall - 1,003.3
