An independent family-run business in Leeds has been named the best sandwich shop of the year.
Country Crust, in Chapel Allerton, is run by Jason Burns and his wife Michelle, and they said winning the award was the "positive news they needed" after closing in March due to the coronavirus restrictions.
The pair bought the business six years ago, when it was rated as just one-star on Tripadvisor. Since, it has become a five-star rated sandwich shop.
She said: “I can’t believe it, to be honest, I’m shocked more than anything.
“My husband is over the moon, he works very hard.
“With the pandemic, we had to close in March and recently opened back in May so this award makes it extra special. It was the positive news we needed.
“We got nominated online and then through the Corporate Livewire got in touch by email.
“I had ignored them, I thought they were trying to sell me something, I even got a call from the guy and one day I decided to just reply to their email.
"I still can't believe it."
