Leeds’s Luke Ayling apologised to me for diving, says Leicester defender Christian Fuchs

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling apologised for diving to try and win a penalty against Leicester City, according to Foxes defender Christian Fuchs.

Ayling went to ground in the box as he appeared to anticipate contact from Fuchs which never came, and the Leicester left-back wisely pulled out of his challenge.

Replays showed Ayling had gone to ground too easily although he did not appeal for a penalty, instead jogging a little sheepishly back into position, and Fuchs says his opponent apologised at the time and again after the game.

“In all fairness @lukeayling_8 excused himself right after the penalty incident and after the game for his dive," tweeted Fuchs. “If I went all the way in [to tackle] it would have been a penalty for sure. Thanks for the great game Luke!”

Leeds were trailing at the time and fighting to get back into the game, but Leicester went on to close out an impressive 4-1 victory which saw them climb to second in the Premier League.
