Leeds Rhinos youngster Sam Walters set for Championship dual-registration move

Leeds Rhinos second-rower Sam Walters has joined Bradford Bulls on a dual-registration deal, Rugby League Live understands. The towering 21-year-old is expected to play for John Kear’s side in Monday’s televised home clash with Featherstone Rovers.

Walters has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Rhinos this term following his recovery from a shoulder injury. He has been included in their 20-man squad for tonight’s pivotal Super League home clash with Toulouse Olympique, but is not expected to feature with a move to the Bulls incoming.

Having joined Kear’s injury-hit Bulls, though, he could technically play in both games under the terms of his dual-registration deal, though that appears unlikely to happen.

Other Leeds youngsters, such as loose forward Jarrod O’Connor and Muizz Mustapha, have also played for the Bulls so far this season. The Bulls are on a three-match losing streak and lost to Halifax Panthers last time out, despite Fax playing 79 minutes with 12 men. Featherstone are top of the league and unbeaten in Championship action so far this season.
