Leeds Rhinos step up recruitment push after Jack Walker joins Hull FC on loan

Leeds Rhinos have created space for a mid-season arrival after fullback Jack Walker completed a loan move to Hull FC. Walker will spend an initial short-term period on loan with the Black and Whites, giving Brett Hodgson's side added choice in their spine after the departure of Josh Reynolds.

But Walker's exit from Headingley gives Rohan Smith the opportunity to strengthen his squad as the race for the Super League play-offs heats up. Leeds are actively looking to make a mid-season signing as early as this week, and now have the capability to do so.

Walker's departure frees up valuable salary cap space to allow Leeds to act in the market, with the prospect of them signing a player before their Magic Weekend derby with Castleford Tigers in Newcastle takes place at the weekend.

It would be a significant boost for a Leeds side who are on a high after a comprehensive victory against Hull last weekend. The Rhinos racked up over 60 points in their biggest win of the season so far to close the gap on the sixth-placed Black and Whites to just three points.

They are now looking to make a significant addition to their own squad in time for their next fixture, and Walker's move to Hull has kickstarted a flurry of activity across Super League that could see more clubs sign players prior to Magic Weekend taking place.
